Will It Succeed?
There's nothing like it. Yes, there are technological systems which we can relate V2P to, such as the V2V that the innovation is being based up, but there are no other technological systems that help the safety of pedestrians from vehicles. Our society nowadays relies heavily on the safety of society and having control over situations, making it very compatible with those needs of society as a whole to do things with their safety in mind. To support that, Honda has made it so that the complexity of V2P is fairly simple. If a car and person get too close to each other and they don't notice the danger, their smartphones or computer systems will alert them. The triability of the innovation has also made it easier for people to understand and want to adopt V2P, the video on the Honda website shows a graphic image of what the product can do and also shows us how it actually works in both the vehicle and smartphone. Overall, this innovation has the potential to really succeed because safety first. People have nothing to lose when choosing to use an innovation like V2P that can potentially save their lives doing things they do every day.

Social Change?
Vehicle to pedestrian would cause social change. This is because, once again this is a technological innovation that requires relying on our phones and computer systems to interact with each other, even if it's for safety reasons. This innovation makes it so that drivers get alerts on their computer systems within their vehicles if a pedestrian is getting too close to them. It also allows a pedestrian that is not paying enough attention to get an alert on their smartphone so that they become aware of their surroundings. This innovation makes is easier to avoid personal contact, even if it would be to honk and stick your head out of the window to tell a pedestrian to be careful. It also causes social change because it gives people more of a reason to be able to be on their phones while walking on the street, since they know this alert system would tell them if they were in danger, and ultimately allowing them to avoid social contact when out of the house. It exemplifies how much people are reliable on their phones that we actually need a system that alerts them when they are so into their phones that they don't notice a car about to hit them.

What in the world is V2P?
Vehicle
to Pedestrians, or V2P, is a safety system that allows pedestrians
crossing the path of a vehicle to be warned of a possible collision.
Basically, Honda came up with a development from the already existing
"Vehicle to Vehicle" network technology that now also alerts cars if
they are a possible danger to a pedestrian by monitoring their position
and direction using the GPS on their smartphones. When a pedestrian
crosses into the scope of the warning algorithm in the car’s computer,
then a big warning sign will flash for it to stop. Likewise, if you're
that pedestrian that is too busy talking on the phone, texting your best
friend or just simply really into a song that just started playing on
your iPhone, you will also get a pop up warning alert if a car is
approaching a little too close for comfort. The person in the car is
also notified that the person is distracted while approaching them, in
order for them to take extra caution. This can work for vehicles who
cannot see people or motorcyclist coming at high speeds and while being
blocked by other vehicles or road blocks. Once a person is on the go
with their smartphone, the waves are being sent out to vehicles around
them, in order to ensure the safety of the pedestrian and driver.
